Exciting Updates Coming to the Person County Quilt Trail!

Person County Soil & Water + The Person County Tourism Development Authority are excited to announce the 2026 Quilt Trail Rejuvenation Project- an effort focused on preserving, enhancing, and growing one of our county’s most unique cultural tourism experiences.

As part of this initiative, the committee is working to:

  • Refresh and restore existing quilt squares in need of repair or replacement
  • Update and expand printed Quilt Trail marketing materials and maps
  • Encourage visitors to travel throughout Person County and explore our local communities, agritourism destinations, small businesses, and scenic countryside
  • Welcome new quilt trail participants and new quilt square installations across the county

Whether you already have a quilt square displayed and are interested in being included in updated marketing materials, or you are interested in creating a new quilt square and exploring potential grant funding opportunities through the TDA, we encourage you to apply!

Applications are reviewed year-round at the discretion of the Quilt Trail Committee. However, to be considered for inclusion in the upcoming printed Quilt Trail brochure and marketing materials for 2026, completed applications must be submitted by June 12, 2026.

We look forward to continuing to celebrate Person County’s heritage, creativity, agriculture, community stories, and tourism destinations through this growing county-wide initiative.

Please email applications to info@itsbetterinperson.com

The Person County Quilt Trail

The Person County Quilt Trail began as an idea in 2015. With grant funding fromQuilt Component the N.C. Dept. of Commerce and management by the Piedmont Conservation Council, the trail has become a reality. The ultimate goal is for a continuous Quilt Trail that travels throughout the North Carolina Piedmont. Presently the counties participating are Person, Randolph, and Rockingham.

The painted quilt squares are unique and reflect the history of this area’s agriculture and the passions of the trail’s participants. Many squares are painted from family heirloom quilts while some were designed to show the history of or the present day working on the farm.

Visitors are encouraged to stop and take photographs from the roadside. Several farms may also offer their seasonal produce or other goods for sale. While touring the Quilt Trail, please be considerate of private property.
