Dear Visitors,
We are writing to inform you of the recent flooding at Hyco Lake, which has resulted in devastating losses, including damage to docks, boats, and other structures along the lake.
Current Restrictions and Guidelines
-
No Wake Zone: The lake is currently under a no wake zone to ensure safety and facilitate recovery efforts.
-
Access Restrictions: At this time, the lake is only open to homeowners. This limited access is crucial to allow property owners to assess and repair the damages as well as relocate boats, jet skis, outdoor furniture, and other belongings.
-
State of Emergency: There was a State of Emergency declared in Person County on July 7, 2025 at 8:30 AM and remains in effect until July 21, 2025 at 12:00 PM. This declaration activates the county’s emergency plan and allows the county to seek help from the State of North Carolina and other agencies through mutual aid agreements.
