So what is Disc Golf? Disc Golf is a game designed much like regular golf, with 18 holes, but instead of golf balls, you are throwing plastic discs into baskets along a designed course with the goal of hitting the basket with as few throws as possible. Intrigued yet?
Person County is proud to have THREE disc golf courses which make for a fun weekend in the outdoors full of hiking, disc golf and beautiful scenery.
So here are the fast facts about our three courses to help you plan for your next Disc Golf outing in Person County!
1. Rockness Monster
Created in 2011, you will find this course located on the campus of Piedmont Community College. This course has tee pads for beginners to advanced players with benches at every tee pad. The course is located adjacent to the "S" Building near parking lot three and the nature trail.

2. Sasquatch
Added to Mayo Lake Park and Campground in 2013, this course serves up a combination of wooded and water holes. Maps of the course are available at the Park Office during peak season, hours are listed on their website.

3. Kraken
Found at Hyco Lake Park and Campground, this course has options for both the daring and for the more relaxed player with three holes designed for throwing across the water and alternate holes available. Parking for the course is located to the immediate left as you turn into the campground. If you make it to the Ranger Station by the water you have gone much too far, but stop in a say hello, they may have a map of the course for you, as well as other informational materials about the area!
