The vibrant community of Roxboro, North Carolina, recently gathered to celebrate an exciting development that marks a significant step forward in enhancing the city’s infrastructure and visitor experience. The Person County Tourism Development Authority (TDA), in collaboration with the Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the first phase of wayfinding signs. This event signifies progress and a bright future for both residents and visitors of Roxboro.

A Community Effort

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a momentous occasion, attended by an enthusiastic mix of community members, including board members, city council representatives, county commissioners, and local residents. Their presence underscored the collective effort and commitment to making Roxboro a more accessible and visitor-friendly destination.

The new wayfinding signs are designed to guide both locals and visitors to key locations throughout the city, ensuring everyone can easily find the best spots Roxboro has to offer. From historical landmarks to popular eateries and picturesque parks, these signs are a gateway to discovering the unique charms of the city.

Powered by Tourism Investment

This project was made possible through occupancy tax finds managed by the Person County Tourism Development Authority, which proudly invested in this initiative to beautify the community and enhance the experience for both visitors and locals. The TDA board (Chair, Dr. Claudia Berryhill, Vice Chair, Biran Patel. Sally Humphries, Margaret McMann, Jeremy Buchanan, and Ursula Long), along with leadership of Executive Director, Julie Maybee and Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, Katie Ann Brannplayed a key role in bringing this vision to life.

Special thanks also go to Candace Hladick from JM Teague Engineering & Planning, Signs, Etc, and Hornsby Creative for their expertise and collaboration in uplifting the design and installation of the signs. Their partnership ensured the project reflects both quality and local character.

Gratitude and Appreciation

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who attended the ribbon-cutting event. Your support and involvement are invaluable as Roxboro continues to grow and improve. The collaboration between various community stakeholders highlights the power of unity and shared vision in driving positive change.

Looking Ahead

The completion of the first phase of wayfinding signs is just the beginning. Future phases will continue to expand this navigation network, further aiding both residents and tourists in exploring Roxboro. These improvements are not just about ease of navigation—they’re about fostering community pride and encouraging economic growth by attracting more visitors to our beloved city.

As Roxboro continues to evolve, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. The new wayfinding signs are more than just tools for direction—they represent a commitment to progress, accessibility, and community spirit. Here’s to a brighter, more connected future for Roxboro!
