Part Time Employee

Position Summary

The Person County Visitor and Information Center and Person County Tourism Development Authority office is a highly visible office and is to greet, inform and promote our area for the local visitors and out of town guests. This position is hired jointly with a PCTDA Board designee and the PCTDA Director with PCTDA Board approval. This position reports to and work is performed under the supervision of the PCTDA Director.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including internet usage
  • Social Media experience, especially with marketing in mind using Facebook, Instagram, twitter and other such platforms
  • 15 hours per week on average, exact days/time may be flexible during the week and must have the flexibility to possibly work Saturdays and holidays that the Center is open
  • Working knowledge of office equipment
  • Must be able to stand long periods for greeting and assisting visitors, ability to lift 25 pounds


  • Serve as primary point of contact for incoming calls and public questions during regularly scheduled working hours, including all routine inquiries such as filling requests for maps and other general information (customer service with a smile and positive attitude are essential!). Shall prepare material for mailing
  • Perform receptionist duties as needed; able to sort and distribute communications and messages in a timely manner
  • Stay current (e.g. monitoring activity and posting content) with Social Media updates for area events and on all platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Work with PCTDA Director to distribute monthly upcoming events calendar with potential weekly updates to be distributed to tourism partners
  • Experience with website maintenance considered a plus
  • Organize office and help stock/maintain lobby materials
  • Monitor and restock all other brochure racks as previously placed over the county on a monthly basis
  • Strict monitoring of the lobby, bathrooms and outdoor parking lot for cleanliness
  • Assist staff and board members in ways that optimize procedures
  • Must have a reliable mode of transportation to assist with office errands
  • Any other work or responsibilities incidental to the above duties
